The light at the end of the tunnel
There is a song from Christian rock band Third Day which says "There's a light at the end of the tunnel for you".
As I sang that song recently (very poorly mind you), I got to thinking about the current Covid-19 situation. Right now it seems like there could be some light at the end of that tunnel. There is talk of some restrictions being eased and there is a sense in some people that we can see the end of this virus.
While I think we are making progress towards things returning to how we knew them a few months ago, can I remind you that in Jesus there is always light at the end of each tunnel we face in life.
The bible is a great resource for encouragement in this area. Time and again the Lord reveals himself through this written book, and time and again we see His people get to the end of the tunnel. It is never a question of if, but always a matter of when.
Have a read through Isaiah 25 and you will see a great example of this. The people have been through a lot, there has been much anguish and they find themselves with very little hope for the future, yet Isaiah reminds them that there is alight at the end of the tunnel they are facing. Read chapters 24 and 25 to get a full sense of what God was saying.
And the same is true for us. These restrictions and lockdowns will come to an end. Separation from family and friends will disappear. Churches will be able to gather together again in person. There is a light starting to shine with regards to Covid-19, but for followers of Christ that light has always been there.
In John 8:12 Jesus tells us “I am light to the world and those who embrace me will experience life-giving light, and they will never walk in darkness.” So while it may seem we are in this dark tunnel right now, take heart knowing that the light of the world has always been shining brightly on you and your circumstances.
