So today marks a brand new season here in Australia. Autumn has gone and winter is now with us. And I wonder if that is not a good reason to start using a new seasoning in the way we see and do life?
Too often I think we can just go with the flow, to repeat the same old thing that we have always done. You know, we go to the same restaurants, we order the same meals, we dine out with the same people. Now there's nothing wrong with any of that, but it does stunt our growth as people.
As we start to see some restrictions around Covid-19 be eased, I wonder if our mindset is simply to go back to how things were before? To go back to doing things the same way, be that at work or in our family or even church? I know that temptation is definitely there, but I don't think that is the next step we need to take.
In Isaiah 43:19 the Lord reminds us that He is very much interested in what is ahead, not what was behind - "For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland."
As we all emerge from this global pandemic, let's not miss the new thing that the Lord has already begun. That's true for us individually, but also corporately as the Church. We haven't gone through one of the biggest trials we will ever face just to come out the other side the same.
We are not the same and the world we live in is not the same. Things have changed around us, and hopefully things have changed within us too. Ask the Lord today to reveal to you the new things He has for you, the new path He has already mapped out for you. And be ready to be amazed at what He shows you!!
